All I’ve Ever Wanted This Summer16

by Christos Polydorou

The body is where our spirits meet.

Our hearts beat
each to each,

And should
our lips lip
lock for hours,

so many I can feel
roses coming out of my back,
Then our towers crumble

our ivory towers
and we climb out of the mounts
of dust

and spiderwebs,
some tumbleweed flowing away.
(I adore your bronze

skin, so much that I’d like
my honey skin to end
where your copper begins.)

Shaking the stitches
of our ex lovers off.
You can see

the big dipper
so clearly
tonight. 7

stars,
a celestial pot, to
stew sublime redness,

reaching
me,
reaching

us. Trace the stars,
within,
without :

they match.
