Tactile Autumn, Leaf by Leaf

by Christos Polydorou

Slightest
touch of leaf
to autumn
colour to leaf
to new autumn
colour, subtle touch
of fair old season
in new combinations
of at least ten
sixteen
striking brush
strokes against
skies otherwise
empty. Touch
each leaf
with your
fingertips,
drink its every
autumn,
call your
mother,
be very
excited
about it.

Be here
now is an
achieve
ment
not
a given.

Paint
a picture
sell
it to the
highest bidder,
seasons still
change,
time still
flows, there
may never be
an end to
this.

Turn
each
leaf
like
eye
lids.
See
the whole
picture
although
you’ve been
anesthetized
by what you saw
you are no
longer
anesthetized
by what you see,

now
with new eyes.
