Mermaid

by Christos Polydorou

Now
I am a wave
and I need you
to catch me. I
need you to
come to me
before I need
you, since
that last poem.
I cannot be
the only thing
hesitating
in this luminous room,
like some
twentieth century
Alfred J Prufrock.
I am hungry.
I would devour that
peach. I am
somewhere
in the
Mediterranean
now,
begin,
and to me
I shall bring you.
