Pride 2017

by Christos Polydorou

Love makes me unkind, selfish.
I act without caution.

I become unhinged,
passionate,

overcome,
by instincts,

and primal
urges.

Do you think I am proud of myself?
But this is the centre,

I have to return to.
One of dignity.

One of personal pride.
Rattle all the chains

until we find where they break,
then break them,

so none of us,
will go on repeating,

the same
lover

over
and

over.
Break the chain:

he’s over.
Return

to your centre
of pride.
