Know Yourself

by Christos Polydorou

I met a guy once,
he told me Don’t sell yourself too short.
I knew what he meant,
but I broke the phrase down
and interpreted it
too literally,
just to avoid the implication
of what it was I might have been doing,
perhaps publically,
on social media.
It was unthinkable to me
that I should be doing something,
living a life,
that I have a very small grip on.
It was impossible to me,
that I might have been behaving in a way
that was actually alien to me,
when I claimed to be so self-aware,
bordering on self-conscious.

I know nothing.
